Telos has been operating for almost 50 years, with the majority of its business operating as a provider of telephone services.
It operates more than 30,000 companies across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia.
But, in recent years, it has come under fire from the EU and some other countries for allegedly engaging in a “cash-for-access” system whereby companies pay a fee to telos for the right to call or send texts.

What is telos?

It was originally a phone company, but it expanded into telephony in the 1990s, eventually becoming the world’s biggest operator of telecommunications.

What you can do about teles black markets Telos is currently facing several investigations by the EU’s competition authority, the competition authority of the Netherlands.
It has been fined in the past by the European Commission for unfair competition, although that ruling was only recently overturned by the Court of Justice of the EU.

Tels is also facing an investigation by the Dutch Competition Authority into alleged anti-competitive behaviour in the way that it charges for services it offers.

What about the EU ruling on telos’ practices?
The EU has recently published a new data protection ruling that could make it more difficult for telos to continue to operate in the EU, including if it’s located in one of the following countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
Telcos that operate in EU member states are also obliged to comply with European data protection rules and laws.
